Sirius Management Changes

Sirius announces senior management changes at its Lloyd’s managing agency

Sirius International Managing Agency Ltd (“SIMA”) announced today that its Chief Executive Officer Michael Dashfield and Chairman Göran Thorstensson will be stepping down. Both Dashfield and Thorstensson will retire from their current roles at the end of the year, the company said.

Dashfield will be succeeded as CEO by Robert Harman, who is currently the Active Underwriter. Dashfield will take a position on the Board of Directors. A replacement for the Chairman will be announced in due course. All changes are subject to regulatory approval.

Monica Cramér Manhem, President and Chief Executive Officer of Sirius International, commented: “I would like to personally thank both Göran and Mike for their exceptional services to SIMA. Under their leadership the Syndicate and Managing Agency have established a strong presence at Lloyd’s, and they leave it well placed for further development in the future.”

Dashfield has had a 36-year career in insurance, and has worked for Sirius International since 1997. He said: “I am proud of what we have achieved in a relatively short space of time. I am especially delighted that Robert will be taking up the position of CEO. We have worked closely together for years and he is an extremely talented individual and the natural successor.”

Harman has had a 20-year career in insurance and has worked at Sirius International since 2005. He said that he is “delighted” and “honoured” to be taking up the role of chief executive. He will be replaced as Active Underwriter by Simon Acland, responsible for Speciality at Sirius International. Simon’s responsibilities include Accident & Health and he has been with Sirius since 2008.

Thorstensson, who has been chairman of the managing agency since its inception in 2014, said: “SIMA has had a wonderful journey becoming a successful Lloyd’s Syndicate and, more recently, becoming part of China Minsheng Investments (CMI), and I’d like to thank Mike for his excellent services during that time. I am confident that the managing agency, like the whole of Sirius International has an exciting future ahead.”
